
Incident At Los Angeles International Airport Prompts Evacuation, Reports Of Shots Fired
An apparent shooting has occured at Los Angeles International Airport.
Update: 1:18pmET LAX says there is a ground stop now in effect after a shooting in the terminal.
Update: 1:16pmET The Associated Press is reporting that a witness, Brian Keech, said he heard "about a dozen gunshots" inside the security gate at Terminal 3. The AP also quotes Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey as saying that emergency crews have responded to a multi-patient incident.
Update: 1:00pmET Ambulances are outside of Terminal 3. New agencies in Los Angeles are reporting that a triage area has been established outside of the terminal. There are also reports that the sounds of screaming and shots fired were heard by those inside.
Update: 12:58pmET Airport officials are now confirming that police reported the incident beginning at 9:30am Pacific Time at Terminal Three.
The incident has prompted an evacuation of parts of the airport.

In 2002 there was a shooting, characterized as a terrorist attack, at the El Al ticket counter at Los Angeles International Airport. During that incident 41-year old Hesham Mohamed Hadayet allegedly opened fire at a group of almost one hundred people, killing two and injuring at least four others before he was killed by a security guard.
