Summer is great in many downtown areas across the U.S., including Central New York. People walking the streets in the Bagg's Square in Utica or Armory Square in Syracuse.

The folks at Handshake.City, "a non-profit that's committed to providing a unique space for culture, commerce and art in Utica," are at it again, stirring up cool events for the summer of 2019. The Downtown Getdown will be happening again in August, and there's also a two-day Garage Sale in the works. But Saturday, July 27, there's a free movie, and it's a celebration, according to the Handshake.City Facebook page:

It's been three years (to the day) since we starting hosting pop up events in Downtown Utica. We've only grown from there, but as a throwback to our roots, join us for a FREE Saturday Night Pop Up Movie at Handshake.City Park.

Bring your own seating, bring your own drink/snacks and join us for 1987 cult classic DIRTY DANCING (PG-13) at dusk. (Around 8:30pm)

The Handshake.City pop-up "container park is a collaboration of green space, art gallery, urban marketplace and event venue." It's located adjacent to P.J. Green.
