At exactly 218p on Wednesday (Oct 4th) that phone in your hand that you're reading this article on is going to send you an alert, and everyone else around you is gonna be suddenly staring at their phones too. But don't be alarmed, it's just FEMA's very first test of the Nationwide Emergency Wireless Alert System. Here's what to expect from your phone in that instant:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it'll sound like an Amber Alert or flood warning. The subject will read: "Presidential Alert." The text will say: "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."

Good thing we're getting a heads up about this as picking up my phone and reading 'Presidential Alert' would make my stomach jump. Let's hope that it never needs to be used... Lots of SCi-Fi movies coming to mind...
