Just about every day I encounter something that reminds me that I'm old.  Whether it be an old song on the radio that I used to hear while I was in high school, or a movie on TV that my kids remind me is "older than dirt".

Well, check out some things that are turning 40 this year.

The band U2 - Actually got their start in 1976, although they were not named U2 until 1978.  The band members were all in their teens at that time, but they are all the original band members.

Apple Corporation - Remember when they brought those crazy looking boxes into your school and you ended up playing Oregon Trail for hours?

The first platinum record was from The Eagles back in 1976, it was their greatest hits album.

The Bicentennial quarter made it's debut.  I remember seeing these all over the place.  I think I tried to save them at one point.  Now you never see them.

The Muppet Show started in 1976 - Funny how none of them have aged a bit.

We were blessed with the film "Rocky" back in 1976.  This low budget film shocked the hell out of a lot of people.  Look at where the Rocky franchise is today.  Sheesh!

The Seattle Seahawks and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were added to the NFL lineup.

So do you feel pretty old now?  Here are more things turning 40 this year.  You can check them out here.
