The World-Wide Leader in Sports is making a stop right here in Rome, NY. They are coming to town to film a feature about a new twist to an old game. It's all happening at the Rome Country Club. It's called speed golf, and it's pretty intense.

The Rome Sentinel is reporting that ESPN will be sending a crew to Rome Country Club to do a feature story on the sport that is quickly on the rise in popularity. It's called Speed Golf and it's not easy. It takes a good golf game, and speed. Remember the completion time is part of your score.

The Rome paper says,

The Rome Country Club’s Wes Cupp began getting into the event in 2014 in Richmond, Va. when he played his first Speedgolf event. “I loved instantly how it turned a great game into a great sport,” Cupp said.  In October 2014, Cupp played in the World Championships in Bandon Dunes, Ore., where he finished 10th in the professional field.

If you're interested in coming to watch the First-Ever New York State Speed Golf Open it's taking place at The Rome Country Club on Monday, August 29th, 2016 and it tees off at 8:30 a.m. This is one thing you'll have to see to believe.
