Sheriff Richard J. Devlin, Jr. announces that the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double homicide that occurred in the Township of Laurens, NY.

WKTV reports from the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office news conference that 23-year-old Kevin A. Perry of Laurens is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of his parents, 59-year-old Timothy A. Perry and 52-year-old Solveig E. Perry.

Supposedly the couple’s daughter discovered her dead parents around 88:49 and called 911 from the crime scene in Laurens. Perry and his vehicle were missing so police issued a “be on the lookout” warning statewide. When he was spotted a high-speed pursuit ensued ending with Perry crashing in Schoharie County near Exit 23 (Schoharie/Central Bridge).

WKTV reports a long gun was used in the shootings. Guns were found in Perry's truck but police don’t know if one is the murder weapon.

An investigation is ongoing to see if drugs or alcohol were involved in the shootings. They say the suspect is not cooperating with investigators.

AllOtsego.com is reporting 23-year-old Kevin Perry allegedly shot his parents, Tim and Solveig Perry, at their home at 400 New Road in Laurens. Supposedly a relative discovered the deceased and called 911.

The suspect, Kevin Perry,  was driving a Red Chevy Colorado eastbound on I-88 at a high rate of speed when the vehicle overturned at Exit 23. He was apprehended and taken to Bassett Hospital.

AllOtsego.com says Perry was arraigned this morning in Town of Oneonta court in front of Town Justice Sean Farrell on the felony charges of murder, first degree, and criminal use of a weapon, first degree. He was remanded to the Otsego County Jail without bail.

WIBX reports two deceased bodies were found inside a home located on New Road in the town of Laurens NY at 8:30 p.m.e on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, via a 911 call.

The suspect in the alleged double homicide fled the scene taking police on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash on I-88, Exit 23 around 10 p.m. last night. The male was taken into custody and treated at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown for minor injuries.

The Investigation is continuing by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office, the NYS Police and the Otsego County District Attorneys Office.

Laurens NY is part of Otsego County is known for their excellent concert band, jazz band, color guard and home to actor Mel Gibson. He lived in the hamlet of Mount Vision and attended Laurens Central School before moving to Australia when he was a child.
