Did You Hear the BOOM in New Hartford Last Night?

Am I the only one that heard that giant BOOM in New Hartford?

Last night (Wednesday) several people in New Hartford heard what they describe as a 'boom' or an explosion around 10pm. So did we.

In a New Hartford Facebook group, residents speculated about what the sound could have been - guesses ranged from an asteroid entering the atmosphere, to a truck tire blowing, or a gunshot. Residents said the sound scared their pets and startled their kids.

The Oneida County 911 logs from around that time don't show any calls reporting an explosion.

We reached out to New Hartford Town Supervisor Paul Miscione who said he's looking into it. We'll let you know what we find out.
