Check Out Some Sweet Real Estate at the Gingerbread Gallery
The Gingerbread Gallery has been an annual tradition in Syracuse since 1986 and is back for another year of holiday fun and showcases of gingerbread houses from local bakers. There's also a lot of opportunities to get involved and create your own candy cottage this winter!
In one way or another, most of the displays will represent the community surrounding the Erie Canal and its people. Others are all about the Christmas spirit, gingerbread people and roofs made of gumdrops. Either way, they'll surely be colorful and a feast for the eyes.
The gallery opened today at the Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse and will be open for viewing almost every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for Christmas and New Year's Day. Hours will be reduced to 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Admission is just $2 for kids, $5 for seniors and $7 for adults.
There's also a couple special events and opportunities to celebrate the holiday season and make a gingerbread house of your own.
Children's Gingerbread House Workshops run at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on December 14, December 28 and December 30 for the kiddos' chance to get crafty with edible home decor. Registration for members is $8 per kid and free for accompanying adults, and registration for the general public is $12 per kid and $5 for accompanying adults.
There's also a 21 and over Gingerbread Build + Sip on December 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a cash bar and (of course) festive music. Advance tickets cost $10 for members and $12 for the general public, and admission increases to $15 at the door.
No matter how you celebrate this winter, checking out these sweet little houses should be on your holiday bucket list. Find more details on the 34th Annual Gingerbread Gallery and the surrounding events here.
