Another Central New York winter is right around the corner, and in some places across the state, the first flakes of the season are already starting to fall.

2020 has been particularly rough for a lot of Central New Yorkers, and the Rescue Mission of Utica is helping families stay warm during the cold season with free winter coats in November. The Rescue Mission is holding two giveaway events on November 4 and 10 at its Community Events office at 1013 West St. in Utica. Families can stop by and pick up one free coat per person between 10 and 11:30 a.m. and between 1 and 2 p.m. on both days.

Parents picking up coats for their kids will need to show a benefit card ID for each child at the events.

Due to current health circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the social distancing and face masks will be required and monitored at the coat giveaways.
