The Broome County Humaine Society is looking for a family to adopt them both Trooper and Adam.

The Broome County Humaine Society tells us, Adam, the truck driver who rescued the beagles after watching them thrown out of the back window of a moving Dodge Durango on I-81, will not be adopting the beagles.

We are still accepting applications on the dogs. Trooper is recovering and will remain in our care until he is cleared by the vet staff. We are planning on  placing the dogs together and are asking that anyone who would be interested in them to please fill out an Adoption Application available at www.bchumanesoc.com.

Trooper and Adam will be placed in a home together so if you have room for both of them apply now! These dogs have been through a lot the past few weeks. Here's what happened:

NYS Police Troop C at Homer is seeking help in locating the people responsible for throwing the dogs out of a moving vehicle in Cortland County...The truck driver told troopers he observed a vehicle which he believes to be an older Dodge Durango slow down, roll down their rear passenger window and throw the dogs out of the window. He described the vehicle as very dirty and had rust along the hatch near the bumper area. He told troopers he immediately stopped to get the dogs to safety...The vehicle was traveling south on I-81 between the Marathon and Whitney Point exit at approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 12th, anyone with information is asked to call New York SP Homer at (607)749-1614. A $17,000.00 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

Trooper had numerous injuries including two fractured legs, broken ribs, a lung contusion and was held at Colonial Animal Hospital in Ithaca. After X-rays and seeing an orthopedic specialist he had surgery in an attempt to keep both legs, but due to the extent of his injuries, only one could be saved. Thankfully, Adam just had a bad case of road rash and is doing well.
