Ahhhhhh, nothing better on a hot Summer day than a nice cool refreshing glass of lemonade.  I recall the days when you could see children setting up lemonade stands all over the place.  I have fond memories of my own refrigerator box turned lemonade stand as well.  Oh, the profits were great too, because you really had no overhead.  All the supplies were compliments of mom and dad, while you reaped all the dimes.  You do still see some stands around, maybe at a garage sale or a bazaar or festival.  Of course you can get the magic elixir at most county and state fairs as well.  Bottles and cartons of lemonade are available, but nothing is better or fresher than a batch of your own, fresh squeezed lemonade.  Here is a pretty good recipe I found.  Try it, you may like it!

1 1/2 cups sugar

1/2 cup boiling water $

1 tablespoon grated lemon rind

1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice (8 large lemons)

5 cups water

Stir together sugar and 1/2 cup boiling water until sugar dissolves.  Stir in lemon rind, lemon juice, and 5 cups water.  Chill and serve over ice!
