Mother Nature is playing a trick for Halloween. Accumulating snow is possible in central New York, especially in the higher elevations and some areas could see temperatures drop into the teens.

Rain will move into the area Thursday, which may mix with or change to wet snow Thursday night into Friday as colder air passes through the region. The said National Weather Service says there is still uncertainty regarding where the storm will track.

"Some models continue to hint at the storm being too far south and east to line up timing-wise with the incoming cold air. This would limit accumulating snow potential. However, other models track the storm system further north and bring more accumulating snow to the region as it would changeover quicker. "

If we do see snow in central New York, it's too soon to know how much will fall. We do know it'll be cold Friday night into Halloween morning. "With a very cold airmass in place, lows will likely at least get down to the 20s, with some areas getting into the teens."

Luckily, Halloween day will warm up with sunshine and temperatures in the mid 40s, perfect for trick or treating. But more rain is expected Sunday, that may mix with or change over to snow again Sunday night. "Lake effect rain and snow showers are then possible late Sunday night into Monday morning."
