The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday. In preparation for the event, we've sorted through the nominees to bring you our Guide to the 2015 Grammys.

Even though there was plenty of great music made by classic rockers in 2014, they were shut out of the major awards: Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Still, the genre categories offer plenty of our favorites, from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Motorhead to newer acts like the Black Keys and Jack White.

In addition, the categories dedicated to movies, production and packaging also caught our eye. Plus, Wayne Shorter, the saxophonist best known for the ‘70s fusion group Weather Report and who's appeared on albums by Steely Dan, Don Henley and Joni Mitchell, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Below are the categories that are of interest to us, and we've put the nominated classic rockers in italics.

LIVE PERFORMANCES

We’ll definitely be tuned into the telecast on Feb. 8 to see AC/DC make their first performance on U.S. soil since their tour in support of ’Black Ice’ ended in 2010. Chris Slade, who drummed with the band from 1989-94, will fill in for Phil Rudd, who is dealing with all sorts of legal issues at the moment.

In addition, ELO will be backing Ed Sheeran. The newest incarnation of Jeff Lynne's band, which hasn't toured since 1986, was launched for a U.K. festival last summer.

Plus, Paul McCartney will be sharing a stage with new pals Kanye West and Rihanna. They are scheduled to give the debut performance of their collaborative single, 'FourFiveSeconds.' Given the combined starpower, this is likely to close out the show.
