Here are two really fun old time drive-in theaters in the heart of  CNY.

Drive-in theaters used to be everywhere there was a population of young adults and teenagers and families. Believe it or not, there were more than 4,000 drive-ins operating in the United States and sadly there are just a few hundred left operating.

I remember when I was in high school we would get all our friends together on a Friday or Saturday night and pile into a friends pickup truck and head to the local drive-in. Park the truck backward so we could all sit in the bed of the truck and watch the movies.

If you are looking for a great way to see a movie this is it. If you live close to Syracuse you'll find the Finger Lakes Drive-in.

This theater is located at 1064 Clark Street Road, Aurelius, NY, Close to Syracuse. and has showings in Spring, Fall and 7 days a week during the Summer. You will enjoy a piece of New York History as this is New York's oldest operating drive-in, it first opened on July 15, 1947.

A little closer to home is the Valley Brook Drive-in just off Rt. 12 at Burdick's Crossing Rd. , Lyons Falls, NY (just halfway between Utica and Watertown near Adirondack State Park). The drive-in is set to open May 18th for weekend showings in the spring and fall, seven nights a week in the summer.

This is a family theater and has one screen, concession stand, pets allowed, has audio on am/fm and the traditional pole speakers. For more info 315-348-6315
