Woodfire pizza ovens are not just for pizza anymore. Are you ready for the wood-fired bagel? We can't wait!

Meg Dellas and Luke Esposito are opening at a unique bagel shop in Syracuse this coming spring called Water Street Bagel Co. Now, these are not your average bagels. These are a New York City-style doughy bagel that has to rise then it's boiled then it's baked in the wood-fired pizza oven with malt barley. Sounds delish right?

Syracuse.com say the owners have traveled to Philly and Jersey picking up bagel baking tips with the wood-burning pizza oven. They've also studied bagel-making in New York City and have been in touch with other shops across the country asking about schmears and baking techniques.

Dellas and Esposito will also kick it up a notch by creating their own signature cream cheese flavors and toppings. Now if they could only find a way to make these bad boys without carbs! LOL! We wish them the best of luck and can't wait to try a wood-fired bagel for the first time. Water Street Bagel Co. open seven days a week in Spring '18 serving breakfast and lunch at 239 E. Water St. in Syracuse.
