If you have purchased any chicken from Wegmans after January 3rd don't eat it right away. The supermarket chain is recalling over 1,000 pounds of poultry. It has been reported that the chicken was produced outside of the approved hours of operation.

According to an article on Syracuse.com,

Although there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, the USDA classified the action as a Class 1 recall, the most serious type of recall.

What this means is the USDA believes that there is a reasonable probability that the chicken being recalled may cause serious injury or even death.

The following products are subject to recall:

  • Approximately 1 pound vacuum-sealed packages containing "Wegmans Italian Flavored Chicken Breast Cutlet" with a use-by date of 1/24/2016.
  • Approximately 1 pound vacuum-sealed packages containing "Wegmans Brown Sugar Barbecue Seasoned Chicken Breast Cutlet" with a use-by date of 1/15/2016.
  • 3 pound vacuum-sealed packages containing "Wegmans Garlic & Fennel Whole Chicken Roaster" with a use-by date of 1/13/2016.
  • 1-pound vacuum-sealed packages containing "Wokery Sherry Chicken 27482" with use-by date of 1/13/2016.

If you feel that you are in possession of any of the possibly tainted chicken please call the Wegmans Consumer Affairs Department at 1-(800)-934-6267, ext. 4760.
