As we watch the summer come to a close, this is where we usually try to cram in as many summer activities as possible, as we go "Where did the summer go!"  Tons going on right now and coming up...state fair, Inflatable 5k, Labor Day Weekend, etc.  This past weekend we ventured somewhere that was new to us.

Letchworth State Park - Have you been there?  If you have, I'm sure you can agree with me that there is certainly a lot of walking involved.  According to my phone, we clocked about 6 miles walking on Saturday, with over 20 flights of stairs.  My legs definitely feel it today.
The park is located about 35 miles southwest of Rochester, nestled in the small Villages of Mt Morris, and Portage.  It is often called "The Grand Canyon of the East", and rightfully so.
Within the park there are several stopping points to admire the great gorge that houses the Genesee River, with 3 major waterfalls called Upper, Middle, and Lower falls.
Inspiration Falls is also located in the park and is considered the highest waterfall in the state of New York, boasting a drop of over 350 feet.
Heading to the park on Friday afternoon, we really had no idea what we were in for.  I normally do a little research about where I'm going, but as much as I read about the park, I really couldn't picture the spectacle that I was in for.  It was truly indescribable.
It was about a 2 and a half hour drive, mostly thruway and then onto I 390 just south of Rochester.  I think the next time we go (oh yes, there will be a next time), we plan to stay a little longer.  I believe this should definitely be more than just a weekend trip.
