Steve Perry Makes Third Live Appearance, Plays Journey’s ‘Lights’ This Time
For the third time in less than a month, Steve Perry has joined Eels on stage. The setting for this go-round was last night's (June 11) show at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, and he added a new Journey song to his repertoire.
But before he began his first performance of 'Lights' (embedded above) in nearly two decades, he let the crowd in on a little secret about its origins. "It started out here -- sort-of finished it" he told the crowd. "Then I got a call to join this band in Northern California called Journey. And we finished it there, {[and] changed L.A. to the Bay."
Elsewhere, Stereogum is reporting that his guest appearance also consisted of the same songs he has done in St. Paul and Washington, D.C. -- 'Open Arms,' 'Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’' and Eels' 'It's a Motherf---er' with a few bars of Sam Cooke's 'Only Sixteen.'
