Utica Police Department Warn Central New York Business Owners of a Scam
UPDATE 4/23/18 at 2:12 PM: On April 21, 2018, the Utica Police Department was made aware that two people who were identified as Michelle Schaffner and Joshua Eckman were attempting to scam local business out of money. Later that day, Schaffner and Eckman were located by police and with the assistance of local business owners they were charged as follows:
Michelle Schaffner (46) of Oneonta
- Attempted Petit Larceny (M)
- Conspiracy in the 6th Degree (M)
Joshua Eckman (36) of Oneonta
- Attempted Petit Larceny (M)
- Conspiracy in the 6th Degree (M)

Utica Police Department Warn CNY Business Owners of a Scam
The Utica Police Department is advising business owners to be on the lookout for this couple in the CNY area. The two individuals pictured below are in the Utica area attempting to scam local businesses. They've tried to collect refunds on orders that they have not placed. They have also contacted businesses advising the company that they have received their order incorrectly and then demand a refund.
