The Boilermaker is coming up this Sunday. For those who aren't familiar with the race, it's a pretty big event here in Utica. There's a 15k race, and a 5k race. Thousands of people come for the run each year.

If you're looking for something fun to do to prepare for the race OR if you'd like to participate in something a little less strenuous that kinda sorta has the same premise of the race - the Uptown Theatre is hosting the PERFECT event for you (and me, since I can't run and have to work the day of the Boilermaker.)

The Boilerfaker Road Walk is happening this Friday evening from 4 until 8 pm. It's a one mile walk down Genesee St. in Utica. The starting point is at the Beer Hub, and you'll end at the Uptown Theatre. Post walk, there will be live music!

It is 21+ to participate and is $25 to register for the Boilerfaker - your registration cost includes a drink at the Beer Hub and the Green Onion.

Here's the schedule of events according to the Uptown's website:

4 p.m. Registration and pre-race social hour at the Beer Hub

5:30 p.m. We’re on the move!

6 p.m. Finish line party at The Uptown with live music, featuring Reuben James Trio

A title will also be deemed for the person wearing the "Best Fitness Wear"

Since Beth can't run in the Boilermaker because she hurt herself training, she'll be participating in the Boilerfaker instead. It's a great, fun alternative to the big road race.

Don't have plans Friday night? Sign up for this.

The Uptown Theatre for Creative Arts was formed in 2017 to provide Utica and surrounding communities with diverse programming that inspires, educates, engages and entertains. Through these activities, and the restoration of the Uptown Theatre, UTCA will help revitalize Utica’s Uptown neighborhood so it reaches its potential as a cultural, social and economic asset to the region.
