Police: Upstate NY Teen Lied About Needle in Halloween Twix Bar
Authorities say a teenager who reported reported finding a sewing needle in chocolate candy he received while trick-or-treating concocted the story.
The Halloween tampering incident was reported to have occurred in a residential neighborhood of East Greenbush, a town southeast of Albany.
Police had reported the 14-year-old boy bit into a Twix candy bar and discovered the needle.
But investigators had their doubts about his claim. They say they determined he made up the incident.
According to a news release, the boy said "he saw it on the social media app TikTok and thought it would be funny."
The teen, whose name was not released, has been charged with falsely reporting an incident.
