UPDATE: 07/29/2022 1634  The Utica Police Department says the body of 42-year-old Musar Pwa of Utica was recovered from the Mohawk River on Saturday, July 30, 2022.

The UPD is asking the public to keep Mr. Pwa's family in their thoughts and prayers.
They are also thanking the Oneida County Sheriff's Office and The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for their assistance over the past several days with multi-agency efforts to locate Pwa.

UPDATE: 07/28/2022  1136   According to the UPD, the area where the man was seen going into the water is being drained.  The process is expected to take several hours.

At this time the man has not been located and his identity is unknown.

UPDATE: 07/28/2022 0820   The Utica Police Department says emergency responders remain on the scene this morning.  No additional information has been released at this time.  The UPD says more information will be released as soon as it is available.  The Oneida County Dive team - comprised of members of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office and Utica Police Department - remains on the scene.

Emergency responders are searching for a person who went missing near the Mohawk River earlier this evening.

According to Sergeant Michael Curley with the UPD, at approximately 5: 55pm on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 the Utica Police Department and Utica Fire Department “were dispatched to the Mohawk River off of Leland Ave regarding a male that (went) into the river and didn't surface. The Oneida County dive team has been searching for since then however has not located anything. They will resume efforts tomorrow.”

No information has been released at this time regarding the identity of the mail or his age.
