Rome Police have arrested two men after seizing heroin and a handgun from a residence there. On Tuesday afternoon members of a NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force recovered a male from a Rome apartment on First Street. While there, they saw narcotics in the residence, and contacted Rome police.

According to Rome PD, Members of the Rome Police Department Detective/S.I.U. Division, Oneida County Sheriffs Office Narcotics Unit and Utica Police Department Investigators then executed a search warrant at that location and recovered a large quantity of heroin as well as US currency, drug packaging materials, a digital weight scale and a stolen handgun.

The two men accused are 25-year-old Brian Townsend of Rome, and 25-year-old Angel Valdez of Utica. They are facing Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd. degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
