According to The Boston Globe, here are some reasons the NFL rules the sports universe:

Low Supply- In economics, the laws of supply and demand are always at work. In the sports world, there are relatively few NFL games. Each team plays 16 regular season games. Compare that with the 162 regular season games played by pro baseball teams.

Violence- Nothing captures the imaginations of men more than sex and violence. Well, the NFL offers plenty of violence with collisions on every single play.

Gambling- Even before the days of fantasy football, the NFL enjoyed a great relationship with gamblers. Plenty of people watched a bunch of games they otherwise wouldn't have cared about because they had money riding on them.

Parity- In baseball, there's no salary cap to even the playing field. Therefore, the Yankees and Red Sox load their teams with every hired gun they can get their hands on. Money is no object. In football, each team plays by the same rules and, therefore, has the same chance to win.

Who do you think will win tonight?
