The #1 movie at the box office that brought in $50 million opening weekend was filmed right here in CNY for only $17 million. That's a win-win right?

John Krasinski's A Quiet Place, where some scenes were filmed in Little Falls, was projected to only bring in $30 million for the entire run, but those numbers were shattered opening weekend giving Paramount it's first hit in about two years. The movie brought in $21M internationally to reach $250M worldwide on opening weekend. This horror flick is definitely on track to be one of 2018's most profitable films.

A Quiet Place was directed by John Krasinski of The Office he also starred also alongside Emily Blunt, his real-life wife. The screenplay was written by Krasinski, Bryan Woods, and Scott Beck, and based on a story by Woods and Beck. The movie follows a family who must live life in silence while hiding from creatures that hunt by sound.

The film opened in 3,508 locations over the weekend and turned into one of the best debuts of all time for a horror film. There was a 'buzz' growing via word of mouth and with Friday the 13th around the corner the future for this horror flick looks pretty chilling.

Mark Cassedi owner of Awesome Monkey Productions (AMP) has this to say about the movie:

"A Quiet Place is the perfect balance of a well-executed film. It's current box office numbers show that a large dedicated fan base of Horror/Thriller films are still hungry for a great film. It also shows the viability and success it can have filming in the Upstate, NY region. Considering the recent success of an Oscar being awarded to "Get Out" proves that Horror Films are not dead by any means! They are very much....ALIVE!"

'A Quiet Place' is rated PG13 and can be seen in the following movie theatres:

Rome Cinemas: M, Tu, Wed, Th, 4:45 and 7:20

Hamilton Theatre: M, W, Th, 7:30
