A Western New York meat company is recalling over 4,000 pounds of frozen beef patties. The recall stems from misbranding and undeclared allergens contained in the patties. Ford Brothers Wholesale Meats Inc. announced the recall on Monday.

According to a release from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, the beef patties contain soy, which is a known allergen. This allergen is NOT declared on the product label. According to the same release, the following product produced from August 26th, 2016 to May 4th, 2017 is being recalled;

  • 5-lb. boxes containing four patties per pound of “MINEO & SAPIO BEEF PATTIES.”
  • 5-lb. boxes containing six patties per pound of “MINEO & SAPIO BEEF PATTIES.”
  • 5-lb. boxes containing eight patties per pound of “MINEO & SAPIO BEEF PATTIES.”
  • 5-lb. boxes containing ten patties per pound of “MINEO & SAPIO BEEF PATTIES.”

The items shipped to wholesale locations all across New York have an establishment number of "EST. 4625."

There have yet to be any reports of any illness or death as a result of this recall, but you are encouraged to either dispose of or return the recalled product to where you purchased it. The USDA has classified this as a Class I health risk. The Class I recall may lead to serious adverse health conditions, or even death. Consumers can use the "Ask Karen" feature anytime they have food safety concerns or questions.
