I wonder if all of those April showers we had here in central New York will bring May flowers! Today is May Day, and although you may not be dancing around the May Pole on this first day of the new month, you may be interested in the long-range weather predictions for May, 2014.

Let's go to one of my favorite sources, "The Old Farmer's Almanac 2014" for their weather predictions for central New York in May. Here's how May stacks up, according to the Farmer's Almanac:

"Average Temperature: 57 degrees (1 degree below normal)

Precipitation: 4.5 inches (1 inch above average)

May 1 - 7 : A few showers and thunderstorms, cool

May 8 - 10 : Sunny, then thunderstorms and warm

May 11 - 18 : Thunderstorms, then showers and cool

May 19 - 23 : Sunny and very warm

May 23 - 31 : A few thunderstorms and cool"

So, get the lawnmower and golf clubs out, and get ready for the merry merry month of May!
