07/21/2015  10:08pm  Utica Police have released the following statement regarding today's "runaway train:"

Surprising but true, in an era when boats plying the Erie Canal was still an efficient way to move cargo, taking a train trip across New York, say from Buffalo to New York City, was quicker at the end of the 1800s than today.

The website Thrillist recently compiled a list of the most beautiful train stations in America. Buildings you'd expect like New York's Grand Central Terminal and Washington D.C.'s Union Station made the list. So did Union Station in Utica.

Because of hard economic times, taking a vacation can seem impossible. Or, if you do take a vacation, everything costs so much money. So, what are you to do? Whether you are staying in the Utica area or planning on taking a trip to Utica, here are a few things you can do in the city that won't cost you anything (except maybe a tank of gas).
