New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada called it quits today. During a press conference at Yankee Stadium he announced that he is retiring from baseball. With his wife and two young kids by his side Posada became emotional as he thanked his family in Spanish and then his Yankee teammates.

Just days after earning his third career World Series title, St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa announced Monday that he is retiring. He managed for 33 seasons, with stints with the White Sox and Athletics before joining the Cardinals in 1996. La Russa, 67, is third all-time in post-season wins and third in regular season wins.

Clint Eastwood told reporters in 2008 that ‘Gran Torino’ was “probably” his last on-screen appearance as he was preparing to retire from acting. Now it looks like that isn’t the case. According to Entertainment Weekly the 81-year-old is currently in talks to star in the baseball drama ‘Trouble With the Curve’ as a veteran scout losing his vision.

Randy Moss has decided to hang up his cleats, ending his 13-year NFL career with 954 catches for 14,858 yards, good enough for eighth all-time in total career receptions and fifth in career receiving yards. His 153 receiving touchdowns leaves him tied for second all-time in that category.
