Alex Handzel of Utica has many passions, but one of the biggest is cooking. He prides himself on creating unique dishes and perfecting the classics. That is why he was thrilled to submit his recipe to the Barilla Pasta contest to showcase his region. Vote for his dish to give him and amazing trip.

October is "National Pasta Month", and you don't need to coax me to eat a plate full. When I was a kid growing up in Utica, my Itlalian-American friends called it "macaroni". Now when runners eat a bowlful the night before "The Boilermaker", it's more fashionable to cal it "pasta".

Being born in raised in Utica/Rome New York I've learned one very important lesson. This are truly has some of the best Italian food in the world. We have the best Italian restaurants around that each offer their unique twist on a classic dish. When I saw this next story it had my blood boiling, and I'm sure it will have yours boiling too.
