Utica University Coach Gary Heenan and the UCHC Champion Pioneers didn't leave quietly on Tuesday afternoon for Hartford, CT, to play for a school first, National Championship.
The Utica University Pioneers are ranked 4th in the country in the USCHO PairWise Division III Rankings and for the third straight year, they're competing for a conference title.
The Utica University Pioneers men's hockey team will have an extra week to prepare for the NCAA Division III hockey championship tournament after receiving a bye during Monday's selection show. That means Heenan's Pioneers won't play until the quarterfinals at home on March 18th.
"There are a lot of moving pieces," but, the Utica University Pioneers men's hockey team could soon move to Division I in the NCAA, according to the Commissioner of the Atlantic Hockey Association.
