Singer Of Roxette Dead At 61
Marie Fredriksson of Roxette has died at the young age of 61.
We're sad to report that the Singer of Roxette das died after a 17 year battle with cancer. Marie Fredriksson was known worldwide for hits like Joyride, The Look, and It Must Have Been Love, from the film Pretty Woman.
The BBC reports Fredriksson was first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2002, after collapsing in her kitchen following a workout. She lost the vision in her right eye - but after three years of treatment, she returned to public life and toured successfully again with Roxette from 2008 to 2016. Cancer returned. Her family says she died following a recurrence of "her previous illness" earlier this week.
”The Look” from Roxette’s second album,” Look Sharp!" opened the doors to a massive international breakthrough in the Spring of 1989. It was their first No 1 single on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and would be followed by ”Listen To Your Heart,” "It Must Have Been Love” and ”Joyride,” as well as numerous worldwide radio staples like ”Dressed For Success,” "How Do You Do!”, ”Sleeping In My Car,” " Dangerous,” “Fading Like A Flower,” and many more.
