Shots Fired on Sherman Place and Genesee Street in Utica on Sunday
Police are investigating after another shots fired incident was reported in Utica.
The Utica Police Department says that officers were called to the neighborhood near Sherman Place and Genesee Street for a shots fired call on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at approximately 1:10pm.
When they arrived at the scene they found eight spent shell casings. During their investigation police learned that the driver of a black sedan had fled the scene after the shots were fired. The suspect was driving at what was described as "a high rate of speed toward Genesee (Street.)"
At least one person reported to be involved in the case is described as a man who was wearing a face mask and hat. He allegedly ran in the opposite direction during the shooting. Police have not located a suspect in the incident. It is not known if the crime is related to another shots fired incident that took place overnight on April 10, 2022, just about twelve hours before the incident on Sherman and Genesee.
