Severe Weather With High Winds, Hail and T-Storms Possible In Central New York
The National Weather Service out of Binghamton (NWS) says hazardous weather could hit CNY tomorrow, Wednesday, June 13.
NWS has issued a hazardous weather alert for Northern Oneida-Onondaga-Madison-Southern Oneida-Chenango-Otsego and Delaware Counties. We could see scattered and numerous thunderstorms across CNY tomorrow afternoon into the early evening. Some of the storms could contain strong gusty winds and/or hail.
The NWS goes on to say:
...we do expect a general uptick in showers/thunderstorms, especially for the northern half of the forecast area. Model agreement is good that deep-layered shear will also be increasing this period, tied to the just mentioned upper trough/jet core, with 0-6 km values going from around 30 kt at 18z, Wednesday, to 50-60 kt by 00z, Thursday. The degrees of forced lift, instability, and shear are certainly enough for us to be concerned about potential severe weather, and we`ve thus maintained mention of such in our hazardous weather outlook and social media messaging...
