With plans to serve over 1,200 meals on Thanksgiving Day, the Rescue Mission of Utica is in need of turkeys.

The mission is looking for 400 to 500 turkeys to help serve holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas and to provide to needy families.

"Our food service director told me we ran out of turkeys, and we need some help to be ready for the holidays.  We will need 66 turkeys just for our Thanksgiving Day meal,” said Jim Haid, Executive Director.

Anyone interested in donating turkeys can call the mission's Food Service Center at 735-1645 or drop off donations at the center at 201 Rutger Street from 6:00 am. to 5:00 pm. any day of the week.
