As summer 2014 winds down, I thought it might be fun to look back at a summer that many baby boomers may recall, 'The Summer Of Love'. The year was 1967, and here's what it was all about.

"The Summer of Love refers to the summer of 1967, when an unprecedented gathering of as many as 100,000 young people converged on the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, creating a phenomenon of cultural and political rebellion.

The Summer of Love became a defining moment of the 1960s, as the hippie counterculture movement came into public awareness."

One of the songs most closely associated with "The Summer Of Love" was "San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)" recorded by Scott McKenzie. Just a sidebar, I saw Scott McKenzie in the 1980s when he was touring with the re-grouped Mama & Papas. Watch this for a glimpse of that summer in 1967:
