A Syracuse-area firefighter was recently named the 2017 Fire Safety Educator of the Year by the Firemen's Association of the State of New York. Danny Dunn, a volunteer member of the Enterprise Fire Company No. 1, which is part of the Phoenix, NY Fire Department was honored during a surprise ceremony at the company's monthly meeting earlier this month.

The Fire Safety Educator of the Year Award is given each year to a single individual who has shown dedication to fire safety and education within their community.

Mr. Dunn has spent nearly 50 years as a firefighter and has dedicated his entire career to fire safety education. He has held fire safety presentations in front of different audiences, including Scouts, parks and recreation groups, senior citizens, and students.

FASNY President Ken Pienkowski was on hand to present the award to Mr. Dunn.
