Pat DiNizio Dead At 62

Pat DiNizio the lead singer of the group Smithereens has died. He was 62.

He had the rare ability to channel the essence of joy and heartbreak into hook-laden 3-minute pop songs infused with a lifelong passion for rock and roll.

The group Smithereens was formed in 1980 and was very active performing 300 dates a year. The band had a strong fan following in New Jersey and New York. DiNizio had been in ill health for a while.
