Oswego Speedway Hosting Drive-Thru Trick or Treating
The 2020 Halloween season may be another casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although, not if a prominent Oswego business has a say.
School and sports schedules are up in the air and subject to change at a moment's notice due to the threat of the coronavirus. Trick or Treating could also be, um, tricky this year. But, kids can enjoy drive-thru Trick or Treat fun on Halloween this year at the Oswego Speedway. And parents will have a blast driving their cars on a real race track.
Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow announced this week on his Twitter feed that the free event will occur on Saturday, October 31 as a fun and safe way to enjoy the annual holiday, even during a pandemic.
The fun begins at 1 PM that day. Vehicles will enter the speedway on City Line Road. Cars will circle the track (at a safe speed, of course) as local businesses hand out candy.
"We want to continue providing Oswego’s youth with fun activities and events despite the difficult times we’re living through,” said Mayor Barlow told CNYCentral.com. “I appreciate the hard work from the youth bureau staff and the efforts they’ve made to design socially distanced events and want to thank the Oswego Speedway and our partners for working together to put this on for our community,” Barlow said.

According to CNYCentral's report, the organizers are also seeking volunteers for the big day:
