Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Introduces Two New K9’s

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is introducing two new four legged members.

"Bo" and "Erica" are the newest members of the Sheriff's Office K9 Unit.

Sheriff Rob Maciol says Bo, a German Short Haired Pointer, is a certified drug dog that will be assigned specifically to the County jail.

Erica is a German Shepard certified in Explosive Detection and will be assigned primarily to the County Office Building.

Maciol says Erica will be deployed anywhere explosive detection services may be needed.

Bo came at a total cost of $10,500 and was purchased with surplus funds from the Sheriff's Office 2019 budget.

Erica previously served overseas with a private military contractor and upon completion of her work, was donated the Sheriff's Office at no charge.

With the addition of Bo and Erica, the Sheriff's Office K9 Unit now has five dogs.
