If you are one of those people who finds yourself out doing a little retail therapy on Thanksgiving, there is one retailer who has vowed to stay closed forever on the holiday, and it's all thanks to the pandemic.

According to News10, Target’s CEO Brian Cornell sent out a letter to all Target employees making them aware that it will, going forward, be a day that all employees have off.

What started as a temporary measure driven by the pandemic is now our new standard – one that recognizes our ability to deliver on our guests’ holiday wishes both within and well beyond store hours. You don’t have to wonder whether this is the last Thanksgiving you’ll spend with family and friends for a while, because Thanksgiving store hours are one thing we won’t ‘get back to’ when the pandemic finally subsides,

2020 was the first year that Target closed on Thanksgiving, and that choice was made due to the pandemic. This marks the first retailer to come forward after the pandemic announcing they would stay closed for Thanksgiving for the future. Who will be next?

Many retailers have announced that they would be closed this year for Thanksgiving other than Target, but what's more surprising is the list of stores that are remaining open. According to RetailMeNot, these are just a few of the local, major retailers staying open.

  • Bass Pro Shops: Confirmed it will open 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving.
