Utica Police continue to investigate after a man was shot several times while sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of Hannaford Plaza on Mohawk Street.

It happened just before noon Monday and prompted a precautionary, districtwide lockdown of Utica City Schools. The 34-year-old male victim was in critical condition, Utica Police said, and the shooter is believed to have fled the area on foot.

Approximately 45-minutes later, Utica police were also called to Sunset Avenue and Avery Street for a report of shots fired. Police believe they located the intended victims in the shots fire case but say they were being 'uncooperative' with the investigation.

Police also said at this time there was no evidence linking the two incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to call the UPD's Criminal Investigation Division at 315-223-3510.
