Man Behind Texas ‘Terrorist Attack’ Was in New York Before Attack
The gunman behind the hostage situation in Texas spent a number of days in New York State just days before the alleged attack. Officials are calling it a "terrorist attack."
Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker has holding a service last Saturday in Texas at Congregation Beth Israel when Malik Faisal Akram interrupted. He claimed he had bombs and demanded the release of a woman convicted of attacking U.S. forces in Afghanistan, officials say.
Akram, from the UK, died when the FBI eventually got into the synagogue, after a 10-hour standoff.
President Biden says the incident in Texas is terror-related. While National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan called the situation an act of terrorism.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy calls it a "terrorist attack."
Turns out, Akram flew from England into JFK airport and stayed in Queens before heading to Texas, NBC news reports.
He listed his destination as a hotel in Queens on his travel documents. The 44-year-old didn't raise any red flags in the system for any links to terrorism and there were no issues raised during questions at JFK, the White House Confirmed.
Akram stayed at a motel on Queens Boulevard for a few days before heading to Texas.
He asked his relative for money to travel to Texas to find a "Mexican bride," according to NBC.
