Should malls in Upstate New York refuse to open on Thanksgiving evening? An online petition is asking the region's largest mall owner to consider not opening at all on Thanksgiving.

Pyramid Corporation owns Sangertown Square as well as Destiny USA. Other regional malls under the Pyramid banner are Salmon Run Mall in Watertown, Aviation Mall near Glens Falls, Waldon Galleria in Buffalo and Palisades Center in Rockland County.

The goal of the Change.org petition

is to force Pyramid to close their doors in every mall location they manage this Thanksgiving as they have done in previous years, not only that but to remain closed for a reasonable amount of time for employees to enjoy the entirety of their holiday.

As of this writing the petition has over 700 signatures on their goal to 1000. Of course the petition is not binding on Pyramid or any decision they make on their holiday hours.

North Dakotans Say New York Places

We sure have some odd city and village names here in New York, as these North Dakota residents found when they tried our tongue-twister towns.
