Minimum wage workers in New York State got a raise today.

It's part of a gradual, annual increase that was signed into law by Governor Cuomo following his Built to Lead Agenda announced in 2016. In Upstate New York, the minimum hourly wage is now $11.10. The rate Upstate will continue to increase 70 cents over each of the next two years, bringing it to $12.50 on New Year's Eve of 2020.

The minimum hourly rate varies in New York depending on location and the size of the company.

In New York City, hourly employees at companies with more than ten employees are seeing a two-dollar-per-hour pay hike today, from $13 to $15 an hour. NYC businesses with ten or fewer workers must pay at least $13.50 an hour. Long Island and Westchester employees are getting a buck an hour raise, from $11-$12 an hour.
