There’s been a new twist in the investigation into the beating of a San Francisco Giants fan at Dodger Stadium back on Opening Day.

Stow, a Giants fan, was beaten in the parking lot of Dodger Stadium after two men confronted him when they spotted him wearing Giants clothing. Authorities would not reveal any specific details about the new arrests.

Police now say a man they arrested in May in connection with the crime,31-year-old Giovanni Ramirez, had nothing to do with the attack. A police investigation failed to prove Ramirez  — a gang member — was involved in any way, so prosecutors decided not to file any charges against him, although he was sent to prison for 10 months last month after authorities determined he violated his parole for carrying a gun.

The savage beating at Dodger Stadium left Stow had been in a coma and caused brain damage, but he appeared to be coming along well until he suffered a setback this week when he had seizures and needed to undergo emergency surgery.

Stow’s family has set up a website to keep the public updated about his condition. Donations can also be made to help him and his family.
