Lantern Tours Through the Fort Ontario Post Cemetery
I get nervous just driving next to cemeteries, let alone walking through them, let alone AT NIGHT! But if that sounds like your kind of spooky adventure, there's a place in New York where you can do just that.
Starting August 31 and running through the end of September, Fort Ontario in Oswego is holding weekly lantern tours of its cemetery each Saturday night. You'll walk among the gravestones with the Post's historian Corey King as your guide, listening to the stories of the 77 people buried in the cemetery, who died from a variety of causes, including murder, suicide, battle and disease, from the French and Indian War to World War II.
Tickets are $15 per person and you must reserve your spot in advance. All the proceeds go toward the activities and programs of Friends of Fort Ontario. Contact Corey King at 315-343-4711 or firstname.lastname@example.org for reservations or more information.
