UPDATE: A Lake Effect Snow Advisory has also been put into effect for Central and Southern Oneida County.

The National Weather Service has issued an extended Lake Effect Snow Warning for Northern Central New York. It will begin at midnight on Friday.

Despite a warm start to Thursday, the rain showers are expected to turn to snow showers by the afternoon hours. That snowfall will continue throughout the weekend.

The areas of Central New York most impacted by the warning are the Western Adirondacks of Northern Herkimer, Northern Oneida, and Northern Hamilton Counties. The snow will be heavy at times and 6-12 inches of accumulation are possible.
