After nearly 50 years Kirby's in Yorkville will be closing its doors this September for good.

Kirby's in Yorkville opened on August 16th in 1969 as Mr. Steak and it will close on Sunday, September 9th. The closing of the Yorkville location will not affect the locations in Fayetteville and Westvale, both will remain open.

The owner confirmed the closing of Kirby's location at 4982 Commercial Drive, in Yorkville and wants to thank all the guests that have come through their doors over the years. Most of all they want to thank the many staff members past and present who have contributed to the success of the restaurant. They said they are closing the restaurant in order to sell the property to the owners of a nearby car dealership and cited economic reasons.

The restaurant will be missed after 50 years on Commercial Drive.
