
UPDATE: Latest Details on Saturday Sangertown Square Shooting
UPDATE: - Sunday, March 2:
New Hartford police have released the identity of the Sangertown Square shooter on Sunday morning, a little under 24 hours after the incident.
With the assistance of Utica Police and the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, authorities were able to detain 20-year-old Malachi T. Wynder of Rome. Police say Wynder carried out a targeted attack of an individual at Sangertown Square.
Wynder is being charged with Attempted Murder, 1st degree Reckless Endangerment, and 2nd degree Criminal Possession of a Loaded Firearm. All charges are felonies.
Wyder was taken to Oneida County Jail, where he awaits arraignment at Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
New Hartford Police have yet to release the identity of the victim in the shooting attack, but say the individual survived and is recovering from his injuries.
(Update 2:00 PM, March 1) Several people are still inside Sangertown Square on lockdown. However, people are expected to be released soon. Sources tell us that a man was seen running from Sangertown away from the property shortly after the shooting. The shots were fired just before 1 pm inside Sangertown. Sources also say one person was injured in the shooting and was taken to Wynn Hospital by ambulance. It's unclear the severity of the injury at this time. Police are searching for one male at this time and ask people to stay clear of the area. Police say this is not an active shooter scene at this time. Stay tuned for additional information.

There are reports of shots fired at Sangertown Square in New Hartford at this hour.
Reports say, multiple calls are coming into the 911 call center and initial unofficial reports say there is at least one shooter, and it's unclear if they are still inside the mall or if they have fled the scene.
There is currently a large police presence at the mall that includes, New Hartford Police, New York State Police, and other agencies. There's also a police presence around the mall, including in the area between Sangertown and the Yahnundasis Golf Club, and in the area near Kentucky Fried Chicken on Seneca Turnpike.
New Hartford Police are urging people to stay away from the area.
One witness told WIBX she heard multiple shots, and that stores in the mall were told to shelter in place. Another witness said that they were walking into the mall for an event when police stopped them from entering and people were evacuating the building. Another witness claims they were inside one of the stores when they heard shots, and it was later announced there was an active shooter. It's unclear at this time if the shooter is still inside the mall, or if there was more than one shooter.
